The Harp Electrical and Heatpumps van, signwritten as a Mitsubishi Electric authorised installer, parked below snow-capped North Canterbury hills

Two trades, one phone number

Heating and electrical from the same van means the heat pump, its circuit and the switchboard it lands on are all done by one person who signs for the lot.

Heat pumps and ventilation

Heat pump installation

Mitsubishi Electric wall-mounted and floor units, sized for the room and usually running the same day.
  • Site visit and sizing before the quote
  • Dedicated circuit and certification included
  • Cold-climate models for Hanmer and inland frosts

Ducted whole-home systems

One hidden unit in the ceiling or under the floor, a discreet vent in each room and zone control so you only heat what you're using. Best planned into a new build or renovation.

Ventilation and heat transfer

Lossnay balanced ventilation to cut condensation and mould, and heat transfer kits that push spare warmth from the lounge into cold bedrooms.

Servicing and repairs

Filter and coil clean, drain check, refrigerant and electrical test. A yearly service keeps running costs down and catches faults before winter.

Electrical

New builds and renovations

Full fit-out planned around your builder's programme: pre-wire, fit-off, switchboard, data, EV-ready circuits and certification.

Switchboard upgrades

Replace ceramic fuses with a modern board and RCD protection on every circuit. Often required before adding a heat pump, induction hob or EV charger to an older house.

Lighting

LED upgrades, outdoor and security lighting, shed and yard lighting for rural properties.

Repairs and fault finding

Tripping circuits, dead outlets, no hot water, failing switches. Try the fault check first so you know what's safe to do before we arrive.

Security cameras

CCTV for homes, sheds and farm gates, set up on your phone before we leave.

Something's not working?

Pick what you're seeing. You'll get what's safe to check yourself, and how soon to ring us.

Choose a symptom

Never open a switchboard cover or touch exposed wiring. If someone has had a shock or there's a fire, call 111 first.

Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric approved

Anyone can bolt a heat pump to a wall. Approved status means the pipework, vacuum, electrical and commissioning meet the manufacturer's standard, so your warranty is intact and the unit performs the way the brochure says.

Residential and commercial

Homes, farms, rentals, shops and workshops across North Canterbury, from a single outlet to a full fit-out. Every job is tested, certified and backed by a local team that's still here when you need a service next winter.

Do you charge for travel or call-outs?

Travel is free anywhere within 30 minutes of Amberley, which covers most of Hurunui and Waimakariri. For jobs further out, travel is discussed with you as an option on the quote before anything is booked.

Are you a registered electrician?

Yes. All work is carried out by a registered electrician, tested and certified, with the paperwork supplied when the job's done. We're fully insured.

Will I get a price before you start?

Yes. You get the number up front. If we find something unexpected once we're into the job, you hear about it before we do the extra work.

How long does a heat pump install take?

A standard wall-mounted unit is usually a one-day job. Ducted and multi-room systems take longer, and the timeframe comes with your quote.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for a heat pump?

Sometimes. A heat pump needs its own protected circuit. If your board still has ceramic fuses or no spare capacity, upgrading it at the same time is safer and usually cheaper than doing it later.
